It’s never too late to change
As we celebrate this 27th Sunday in Ordinary Time, we should reflect on how we respond to each other and to our
neighbour, and, most importantly, how we respond to God as his own. With God, it’s never too late, even to change.
In our First Reading, the Prophet Ezekiel is talking about the heart that committed sins and turned back to God and
received life. With God, there is always an open door for a heart that changes for the better. In fact, with God, there is
also a chance to change. We have to hope in God, for in Him we are safe; in Him, we are redeemed. God never looks
at our failures but accepts us as we are.
Furthermore, the Second Reading is based on Jesus’ life of obedience. Out of obedience, he humbled Himself and
became one of us, but sin. This reminds us of God’s desire to be with us. He always wants to be with us despite our
imperfection, but to be with Him, he makes us perfect.
The Gospel gives us hope. The first Son said no, but later he did what he was asked to do. On the other hand, the
other son said yes but never did what he was asked to do. The Gospel reminds us that we are never perfect in our
decisions unless we imitate our Lord Jesus Christ, who obeys till death. Sometimes, we are like one of the sons, but
again, there is always hope in God. He never abandons us in our failure; he looks forward to us making a change, a
change that follows Jesus' way.
My dear brothers and sisters, let us reflect and live the word of God. Let us continue to have hope in God, for He is
our only Hope. HE is our God, who cares for and loves us. Let us encourage one another to follow and to imitate Jesus,
to humble ourselves and to live in obedience in our lives. With God, it’s never too late to change. Let us change to be
better disciples of God. To be better ambassadors of God’s love to others.
